Few cities in the world are as fascinating as Split, that's the reason why this city is a must-see if you are traveling to Dalmatia! Split is renowned for the amazing Diocletian's Palace, the Cathedral of St. Doimo, the Mestrovic Gallery and the Port. Since 1970, Split's Old Town has been nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Moreover, in Split you'll find breathtaking beaches where you can lose yourself if you have planned a journey along Split-Dalmatian region in summer.
The Diocletian's Palace is certainly the most important attraction in the whole city. More than a palace, it is a structure with buildings, streets and a beautiful courtyard overlooking the sea. It was built by the order of the Roman Emperor, between 293 and 305. Nowadays, this is one of the best-preserved Roman architectural monuments in Croatia.
